What are the different types of one piece swimsuit
Let's explore the different type of one-piece swimsuits.
For starters, there are three main styles. The Monokini, the Tankini and then different styles of One-piece swimsuits.
Generally, a one piece is a swimsuit that covers the body in a more flattering way and hides problem areas such as the tummy. Many Women prefer this style of swimwear over a two-piece as it is elegant and sexy yet less revealing.
What is a Monokini?
This type trendy sexy type of one piece swimsuit generally features much deeper cut outs on the side and is much more revealing than a regular one piece. There are countless variations, patterns, and styles to choose from.
Some examples here:
What is a Tankini?
A tankini is a swimsuit that combines a tank top. It is generally made with Lycra and nylon and spandex. This style of one piece was introduced in 1990. It is the ideal swimsuit for Women with a long torso. It gives the appearance of having a shorter torso and fits better if you have a longer torso. It has much more coverage than a regular one piece or monokini.

What is One Piece Swimsuit?
This is where it gets a bit tricky, monokinis can also be considered one piece swimwear but the difference is usually the cut and style. One pieces often feature a low cut on the back and or a deep v cut in the front. There are a wider variety of one pieces and you can choose the type that best suits you based on if you have a long or short torso and the amount of support that you need for your bust. For example, if you have a shorter torso you are going to want a one piece that has a higher cut out waist. This will accentuate your hips and make your torso appear to be longer.

How To Choose Your Swimsuit
One Piece Swimsuit Versus Monokini
The key difference between these two types of styles is that the monokini features cutouts on the side where a typical one piece will feature a deep v neck cut in the front or a low back cut. Or in some cases both a low cut back and a deep v neck. Depending on your shape and comfort level you can decide what areas you would like to expose.
Wearing a one piece swimsuit with shorts
This is another cute way to dress up an outfit or if you are just making your way to the beach. Another advantage of this is a one piece often acts like a compression garment and will flatten and hide your tummy. Again the choice and cut of the swimsuit that best fits you will be based on your body type and preferences.

How should a one-piece swimsuit fit?
The most important thing when buying swimwear is getting the right fit. When you are choosing a brand the first step you must take is look at their size chart. Unfortunately, almost every brand fits a little bit different depending on your body type. Take a tape measure and (in your underwear) measure snugly against your skin with a tape measure. You will need to measure your Torso, Chest, Waist, and Hips.
Start by wrapping the measuring the tape at your shoulder down your body, then against the leg creases of your leg then bring the tape back up to where you started.
WAIST Measure around the smallest part of your waist (this is known as your natural waist).
CHEST Wrap the tape measure snugly (but not too tight) and measure around your back to the fullest part of your bust.
HIPS Start by putting your heels together, then use the tape measure and measure around the largest part of your hips and butt. One quick trick is using a mirror and stand sideways to make sure you are measuring correctly.
Looking for one with a built in bra?
A swimsuit with built in bra can offer additional support and comfort, especially for women with a larger bust. These bras are supported with molded cups, strips, underwire and sometimes elastic strips. This plastic or metal seam helps to offer both support and comfort.
Additionally, you may find that you'd like a push up swimsuit, and many of these styles come with in a built in push up bra to enhance the look of cleavage.
