Professional figure skater Mirai Nagasu is a three-time medal winner. This is just the first of her accomplishments in a very competitive sport. The Japanese immigrant has represented America in the figure skating industry.

Now 24 years old, Mirai began ice skating at the age of five. Her role models in the figure skating industry include Michelle Kwan. When she was just 10, Mirai competed as a juvenile figure skater. She made it to fifth place in the Southwest Pacific Regional Championships.

The next seven she graduated from juvenile skater to intermediate. This led to her fourth place Championship for the Southwest Pacific. By the 2005-2006 figure skating season, she had reached the level of novice skater. The next season was the first one in which she qualified to compete in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. This marked the second time in her career that she competed nationally.

By 2008, Mirai was competing on the senior level in the United States. However, worldwide, she was only ranked at the junior level. She competed in the U.S. Nationals and was declared the winner of the short program. It wasn't until the 2008-2009 figure skating season that she was ranked as a senior on an international level.

2009 brought with it the opportunity for Mirai to compete in that year's Grand Prix Skate International event, where she came in fourth place, as well as the Cup of China, where she was the winner of the short program.

Mirai was the second youngest woman to achieve the accomplishment of US senior ladies title winner, following in the footsteps of Tara Lipinski and making history in the process. She became a World Junior and US National medal winner before making her way to the Olympics. In 2010 she competed and won fourth place among the ladies at the tender age of 16. Eight years later she went on to make history again as the third woman in the world and the first American woman to successfully execute a  triple axel at the Olympics 2018 PyeongChang.

During 2011, Mirai was able to, once again, compete in the Grand Prix Skate International, where she came in fifth place and the Cup of China, where she won a silver medal.  She went on to win numerous other medals over the course of the next few years, helping to make her career.
