Cardio Lose Weight

While it might be dreaded, cardio is a must if you’re looking to lose weight before summer which is why it is the first priority. Aim for at 30-60 minutes depending on your ability level of intense cardio at least 3 times a week. On top of this include cardiovascular exercise such as running, rowing, and swimming or cross training for a 30-45 minutes 2 times a week. This should leave 2 days for resting.

Squat Press Tutorial

This exercise will have you working several muscle groups for not only a full muscle building workout, but one that will burn fat. Begin standing with your feet shoulder width apart and dumbbells by your shoulders. Keeping your back flat, squat down until your thighs are parallel to the floor, if possible, making sure your knees do not go forward over your toes. Drive from your heels to push yourself up while fluidly moving into a shoulder press with the dumbbells all in one motion. Return to starting position to repeat 10 reps for one set.

Stiff Leg Deadlift Tutorial

 

This exercise is great to prep for beach season since it works muscle groups from your legs to your back and even your upper body. Standing with your feet a little closer than shoulder width apart with a barbell directly in front of your feet, squat down with a flat back to grab the barbell with both hands, palms facing down. Be sure to keep your weight in your heels as you lift up to a standing position. As you lower the barbell back down, only hinge at your hips to keep your legs straight with the barbell as close to your body as possible. Return to the standing position and repeat for 10 reps as one set.

Complete this circuit right though with no rest for one set. Complete this 5-6 times 3 times per week.

  • Fast Push-ups x 20 reps
  • Bent over Rows x 8 reps
  • Triceps Dips (on bench or chair) x 15 reps
  • Single leg squats (onto bench or chair) x 15 reps each side
  • Shoulder Press x 8 reps

 

These exercises will have you working your largest muscles and burning the most calories to reveal the toned beach body you believed was hiding under those winter sweatshirts.
