But the main thing is to be unique and true to yourself. There's no point in developing an alter ego for your blog, it's just not authentic and it shows. You also need to think about having a clean, effective layout that's easy to use and pretty to the eyes too. My main thing is uniqueness though, don't copy others and make sure all your content is your own. You must have passion behind it so that your posts display enthusiasm! But definitely go through the two posts!
How to Become a Successful Fashion Blogger
What are some helpful tips you might have for up and coming bloggers on How to Become a Fashion Blogger?
I've actually written two posts about this on my blog, you can see one about Tips to become a successful fashion blogger on The Fashion Supernova.
What are you most passionate about and why do you blog?
This is a good question. I would say I am most passionate about a few things in life like family, my boyfriend, animals and generally trying to enjoy life. Experiencing the outdoors and nature, trying to relax and be at ease, that's truly a passion of mine. But in terms of blogging, fashion is my absolute passion, denim being at the front of the list. I'm always thinking up new outfits and searching for new clothes, putting things together and enjoying everything that goes into it. Fashion Blogging is an extension of this. Sharing it with others who love it too and putting my enthusiasm into words really helps me live it to the fullest. It may sound weird, but being able to write about certain items and share looks I love really makes me happy.
What initially got you interested in Fashion blogging and how has it changed your life?
I started blogging because I wanted a place online that I could share my passion for fashion with other like minded people. A place where we could share interests, inspire each other and of course, have somewhat of an online diary. I was already blogging for a major American blog, but I wanted something to call my own. It's definitely changed my life, 100%. Blogging is my life now, every part of me is attached to my blog in someway, whether it's thinking up content or just simply using social media, it all helps promote it. It's opened up new doors for me, new opportunities and more. It's let me be creative and it's given me chances to experience new and incredible things.
What are your future expansion plans with your Fashion blog and current social media success?
First off, thanks for saying success as that means a lot to me. But I've had plans to grow my blogs as much as possible. Owning three makes this a lot easier actually as I have planes to add a shop to one of my blogs, that will be awesome, and then I also have a plan to include a denim clinic. For Raindrops, I just want to keep pushing my boundaries in fashion and making everything the best it can possibly be, while social media is something I just want to keep growing.
Tell us something about yourself that we would find surprising or you normally wouldn't blog about?
I'm very cautious about health, so I don't drink alcohol. It's nothing fancy, but it's usually something people look at me like I'm crazy for, so I guess it's pretty different for people my ages. Things that I don't blog about are usually because I keep them private and away from the public eye, but I've had many struggles with health and it's definitely changed me. I've had health battles since I was born and I actually think it makes me appreciate life a whole lot more!
What type of photo equipment do you use, do you have a favorite photographer that you work with?
We use a Nikon D7000 and a 85mm prime lens. I also use Photoshop for editing. My boyfriend is my favourite photographer to work with, he really knows the angles I like, the type of photos and style that I like too. We work best together as I'm most comfortable with him shooting my photos and doing the poses. I've worked with professional photographers on shoots, but I definitely love the reality that the photos with my boyfriend posses.
You have been blogging for 8 years now, tell us some pitfalls to watch out for as an up and coming fashion blogger?
My biggest advice would be to stick to what you are comfortable with and what's worth it. A lot of new Fashion and Beauty Bloggers
accept anything from anyone when it comes their way because they are excited that these brands want to work with them, but you must make sure it fits in with the voice and niche of your blog and that it will be beneficial for you in the future. If the post is something you don't feel confident or happy about and you know it's something you might regret in the future, or it might possibly hinder your chances of working with other brands, don't go for it. New opportunities come around the corner all the time, so be sure to the choose the right ones for you. Too many times bloggers can fall into these types of traps.
What are some helpful social media or SEO tips for How to Succeed as a Fashion Blogger
This is a tough one because Google are always changing their game plans, every few months. So what might be working and good for the time being will be against their rules in their next update. They definitely do keep you on your toes. But the main things to do are using social media strategically, which means promoting your posts with images and interesting text across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and then for SEO, you want to make sure you rank for some keywords which are relevant to your blog, so Google can find you easier. Definitely read up on the new Google ideas each month!
